With the idea of packaging tomatoes in cardboard trays enriched with tomato fibers, the Dutch company Solidus Solutions achieved an absolute novelty. Per hectare of tomato cultivation can produce 100,000 boxes of tomatoes. Thus, the tomatoes from this year’s crop provide the biodegradable packaging for the following year’s crop. This has the positive side effect of reducing CO2 emissions at the same time. The process also allows the 600 tons of tomatoes obtained from the above-mentioned area to be packaged in their natural ingredients.
