Zero Takeaway Packaging<\/h2>\n\n

London-based design studio PriestmanGoode’s new concepts show how it is possible to reduce the huge amounts of plastic packaging used in takeaway food deliveries. The project is the latest in a series of concepts the studio has developed to show how design thinking can help address some of the big problems of everyday life and make the future more sustainable. Jo Rowan, associate director of strategy at PriestmanGoode explains, “We wanted to rethink food delivery and takeaway to minimize the environmental impact of convenience culture.” The idea behind the concept is that customers pay a small fee for packaging when they order their meal, which is refunded on the next delivery when the containers are returned to the delivery service provider. The containers are then washed by the next restaurant\/food provider before being used again.<\/p>\n\n
