Nearly half a million tons of these fruit wastes accumulate in the European region every year and, due to their fungal hazard, have had to be completely disposed of up to now. The <em>Cartamela apple paper production<\/em> process not only recycles these scraps, it also produces durable paper. Despite its own very fine structure, this eco paper can be printed and further processed like the conventional variants. The color of the Cartamela hardly differs from conventional paper.<br\/>Frumat has now discovered yet another way to use food waste: as apple leather. This vegan leather substitute is a cellulose-based material that has a variety of textures, thicknesses and embosses and laser prints, so it can be used industry-wide.
