MarinaTex<\/h2>\n\n

Product design student Lucy Huges<\/em> ‘ project at the University of Sussex <\/em>involves developing a new type of packaging solution that is sustainable and biodegradable. Over 100 experiments required the material called MarinaTex<\/em>, which consists of the agar of red algae and the proteins of fish waste. The natural raw materials of the oceans are not only available in large quantities, they also do not require any fresh water or the use of agricultural land. Furthermore, the growth of red algae is climate-neutral and pollutant-free. <\/p>\n\n

When the remains of the fishing industry are combined with algae, the result is neither a plastic nor a polymer. MarinaTex<\/em> is an innovative substance that has similar functions and applications to conventional LDPE plastic.<\/p>\n\n
