Our honey<\/h1>\n\n

Since 2019, we have been accompanying our own bees and trying to learn more about the fragile cycles of nature. By participating in the beeswe.love<\/strong> project, we are sponsoring a bee colony and 100 square meters of natural bee pasture.<\/p>\n\n

Ten good reasons for bees.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1.<\/strong> a large part of agricultural yields in plant, horticultural and fruit growing depends on pollination by bees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.<\/strong> without bees we would be able to harvest only half as much, and our fruits and vegetables would be smaller, poorer in vitamins and of poorer quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. <\/strong>the economic benefit of the bee globally is about 265 billion euros. In Germany alone: 2.7 billion euros! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.<\/strong> 584 wild bee species are native to Germany. 39 species are already extinct. Half of all bee species are threatened with extinction! Especially monocultures, pesticides, diseases and parasites harm the insects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The<\/strong> honey bee is the third most important livestock animal in Germany after cattle and pigs. (Unfortunately, however, bee populations in Europe have declined by about 10% in recent years).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.<\/strong> almost 80 percent of all crops and wild plants are pollinated by the Western honeybee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.<\/strong> 71 out of 100 plant species that provide over 90 percent of human food are observed to be pollinated by bees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.<\/strong> crops such as cocoa, vanilla and passion fruit rely 100 percent on pollination by bees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.<\/strong> in stone and pome fruit, insect pollination increases fruit yield by 40 percent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.<\/strong> birds, beetles, hedgehogs, mice, squirrels and co. eat seeds and fruits that would not exist without pollination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our bee colony is growing.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our bees made it through last winter in good health, and after a cold and rainy spring, enjoyed rising temperatures, plenty of nectar and pollen for nourishing honey. As always, we are happy to taste the aromatic flower honey of the ever-growing population.<\/p>\n\n\n

Honey is not the only thing bees can produce. Your wax can be used for a number of innovative packaging concepts. Here are two examples: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beeswax cloths.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

These cotton cloths soaked in wax are ideal packaging for food. Their use means that there is no need for aluminum foil or cling film. The wax keeps the food fresh and recycling is no problem at all. The cloths actually last for several years.<\/p>\n\n\n

Honey in beeswax.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wax can be used not only as a thin layer, as with the beeswax cloths, but also as a solid form, as a container for honey. The contents are packed and protected as if they were in their natural environment.<\/p>\n\n\n
