Manufacturer of Microfibrillated Cellulose Materials

Celova

Weidmann Fiber Technology is the world’s leading supplier of materials based on microfibrillated cellulose (MFC). Microfibrillated cellulose materials are created just like ordinary paper on the basis of wood. MFC is a natural building block of wood fibers. These are composed of a matrix of fibril bundles and these in turn are composed of smaller elements, the microfibrils. In Wiedmann Fiber Techology’s special manufacturing process, these microfibrils are mechanically separated to achieve the finest fiber networks.

The experts for this unique group of materials work with customers, research institutes and universities to realize new, innovative products based on MFC. The Celova material is one of the results of this research activity. Thanks to its special fiber structure, Celova can also open up new possibilities in the packaging sector – in addition to many other exciting areas of application. Celova is lighter and stronger than ordinary carton board and has better barrier properties. It can be used to replace synthetic content in the material, enabling the recycling of packaging that would otherwise not be available to the recycling loop. Since Celova is made from the same raw material as paper, it can be used in common paper-making processes. In addition, the material can also be used for paints and coatings. Celova is safe for use in the food industry and can even be used as an excipient in foodstuffs. As a dietary fiber in foods, it stabilizes emulsions and solutions, and is vegan, gluten-free and fat-free.
