Grown Bio grows environmentally friendly material from mycelium and local agricultural residual streams. Mycelium is the root network of fungi – this mycelium acts like a natural glue that can bind a biomass together. This results in sustainable materials such as packaging that is biodegradable and produced with a negative carbon footprint. The products are created under license from Ecovative and have Cradle to Cradle Gold certification. The functions of mycelium-based products are ideal for packaging applications. Firstly, the products have high impact resistance and good protective value. Therefore, it is possible to design packaging for a wide range of shape variations. On the other hand, the mushroom packaging – besides being protective and versatile – is also an excellent insulation product. It keeps warm products warm and cool products cool.
