Coffee grounds in a circular economy

As the world’s largest coffee grounds recycler, the British company bio-bean is trying to give the hundreds of thousands of tons of coffee grounds a new use. Usually, the used coffee beans end up in a landfill, but there they emit harmful greenhouse gases like methane. In order to enable industrial recycling of this waste, bio-bean is divided into the following areas:

Renewals deals with the waste separation of coffee grounds from companies: The aim is to separate the coffee grounds from the rest of the waste in order to lower the disposal weight for companies and reduce the associated costs.

The Naturals division processes the coffee grounds into flavorings for use in other foods and beverages.

Bio-bean Elements comprises heating briquettes obtained from recycling, which are used as an efficient and cost-effective biofuel.
