Lactips

Lactips is an edible plastic made from milk protein and produced in the form of pellets. Production is based on an industrial process that enables rapid production in large quantities. The thermoplastic, water-soluble pellets dissolve in both hot and cold water. Lactip offers barrier properties against oxygen, fats and mineral oils. It can be used as a lamination or coating on biopolymers, paper or cardboard without adhesive or pre-treatment. Special attention is paid to the possibility of further processing milk that is no longer suitable for consumption. Awarded the OK home compost label by TÜV Austria, it is certified that Lactips can be composted at home within a period of 6 months and without heavy metal residues. Lactips are used in particular in the production of films and thermoformed plastic objects and represent an interesting alternative to conventional (non-edible) materials.
