Coating that Converts Paper Into Flow Wrap
Barrier Properties of Plastic with the Recyclability of Paper
Varden’s Paperseal coatings can convert paper stock into flow wrap. Their coating is partnered with Fedrigoni’s Sylvicta Paper, which is translucent, allowing customers to view the product within.
The translucent paper flow wrap is printable, recyclable, and compostable. It has the tactile characteristics of paper, tears like paper, and sounds like traditional paper. The Paperseal coated Sylvicta paper can achieve a WVTR of less than 5, offering a printable solution that is compatible with most high-speed filling lines, supporting both cold seal and heat seal applications, while meeting industry standards.
Paperseal also provides lidding which utilizes proprietary bio-polymers, custom designed to suit specific end-use applications. They are able to create with Sylvicta a translucent paper that provides product visibility, along with a seal that has a peel strength of 6N/15mm. High-gloss papers can also be used while maintaining the same protective barriers.
For every project Varden places their Paperseal coating packaging under rigorous testing to validate and achieve approval for safety, quality, and environmental certifications such as TÜV’s OK Compost, EN, and AS standards.
